Every day is different. I plan out my day – check the road conditions, weather
and route. I get to the shipper and get my load. I then secure the freight and drive toward the destination. I stop and do cargo and vehicle checks every three hours. I usually drive about 10 hours a day. Over the course of a week, I’ll drive between 2,250 and 2,500 miles. If I have a new driver with me that I’m training, I assess his skills and provide feedback for improvement.

What skills learned in the military do you apply to your job today? Planning, risk management and risk assessment. The military teaches you how to work independently and as a team, and be punctual. That’s made me dependable, reliable and accountable, which are assets in my job as a truck driver and trainer.

Why did you choose this career path? I wanted to get out and see the country. My wife and I wanted to find a rural place to live, and being a truck driver enabled me to do that.[/fusion_text][fusion_button link=”https://careers.gijobs.com/roehl-transport/careers/” color=”default” size=”large” stretch=”yes” type=”” shape=”” target=”_self” title=”” gradient_colors=”|” gradient_hover_colors=”|” accent_color=”” accent_hover_color=”” bevel_color=”” border_width=”” icon=”” icon_position=”left” icon_divider=”no” modal=”” animation_type=”0″ animation_direction=”left” animation_speed=”1″ animation_offset=”” alignment=”” class=”” id=””]Start a Career with Roehl Transport[/fusion_button][/two_third][one_third last=”yes” spacing=”yes” center_content=”no” hide_on_mobile=”no” background_color=”” background_image=”” background_repeat=”no-repeat” background_position=”left top” hover_type=”none” link=”” border_position=”all” border_size=”0px” border_color=”” border_style=”” padding=”” margin_top=”” margin_bottom=”” animation_type=”” animation_direction=”” animation_speed=”0.1″ animation_offset=”” class=”” id=””][title size=”3″ content_align=”left” style_type=”none” sep_color=”” margin_top=”” margin_bottom=”” class=”” id=””]About Michael[/title][imageframe lightbox=”no” lightbox_image=”” style_type=”none” hover_type=”none” bordercolor=”” bordersize=”0px” borderradius=”0″ stylecolor=”” align=”none” link=”” linktarget=”_self” animation_type=”0″ animation_direction=”down” animation_speed=”0.1″ animation_offset=”” hide_on_mobile=”no” class=”” id=””] [/imageframe][checklist icon=”fa-arrow-circle-right” iconcolor=”” circle=”” circlecolor=”” size=”13px” class=”” id=””][li_item icon=””]Occupation: Flatbed Driver & Driver Trainer, Roehl Transport[/li_item][li_item icon=””]Age: 44[/li_item][li_item icon=””]Military Service: Sergeant First Class (E-7), Army (1993-2014)[/li_item][li_item icon=””]MOS: Motor Sergeant (91X40)[/li_item][li_item icon=””]Education: Roehl Transport’s CDL Program[/li_item][/checklist][/one_third][/fullwidth]
