No, I was a welder at a family-owned company prior to coming to CP rail.
What do you do? I inspect inbound and outbound trains and perform repairs when needed.
What is your typical day like? My typical day in the train yard is busy, and I am always moving. I work outdoors through all of the Minnesota seasons. Typically, I can expect to inspect over 500 rail cars in a shift.
Why did you choose this career path? I chose to work for CP Rail because I enjoy working with my hands and working outdoors. The ever-changing environment working in a rail yard keeps my interest and challenges me.
What hours and days do you typically work? Currently I am working 12-hour shifts, Monday through Thursday, with every other weekend on call.
What’s the coolest thing about your job? Well, my son would say that I get to work with trains every day! I think the coolest part of my job is working outdoors, moving and being active. I am not stuck behind a desk.[/fusion_text][fusion_button link=”https://www.cpr.ca/en/careers/military” color=”default” size=”large” stretch=”yes” type=”” shape=”” target=”_self” title=”” gradient_colors=”|” gradient_hover_colors=”|” accent_color=”” accent_hover_color=”” bevel_color=”” border_width=”” icon=”” icon_position=”left” icon_divider=”no” modal=”” animation_type=”0″ animation_direction=”left” animation_speed=”1″ animation_offset=”” alignment=”” class=”” id=””]Start a Career with Canadian Pacific[/fusion_button][/two_third][one_third last=”yes” spacing=”yes” center_content=”no” hide_on_mobile=”no” background_color=”” background_image=”” background_repeat=”no-repeat” background_position=”left top” hover_type=”none” link=”” border_position=”all” border_size=”0px” border_color=”” border_style=”” padding=”” margin_top=”” margin_bottom=”” animation_type=”” animation_direction=”” animation_speed=”0.1″ animation_offset=”” class=”” id=””][title size=”3″ content_align=”left” style_type=”none” sep_color=”” margin_top=”” margin_bottom=”” class=”” id=””]About Kenny[/title][imageframe lightbox=”no” lightbox_image=”” style_type=”none” hover_type=”none” bordercolor=”” bordersize=”0px” borderradius=”0″ stylecolor=”” align=”none” link=”” linktarget=”_self” animation_type=”0″ animation_direction=”down” animation_speed=”0.1″ animation_offset=”” hide_on_mobile=”no” class=”” id=””] [/imageframe][checklist icon=”fa-arrow-circle-right” iconcolor=”” circle=”” circlecolor=”” size=”13px” class=”” id=””][li_item icon=””]Occupation: Carman, Canadian Pacific[/li_item][li_item icon=””]Age: 35[/li_item][li_item icon=””]Military Service: Staff Sergeant (E-6), Army National Guard (2005-Present)[/li_item][li_item icon=””]MOS: Infantry (11B)[/li_item][li_item icon=””]Education: Welding Certificate[/li_item][/checklist][/one_third][/fullwidth]
