Champion’s Job Responsibilities:

Founded and runs company’s Veteran Outreach, ERG and supports recruiting for DoD contracts.

Why Moretti was nominated for the Veteran Champions of the Year in Corporate America Award:

Lauren Moretti is passionate about ensuring that AMERICAN SYSTEMS honor, hire and support our veterans. She founded our veteran employee resource group – Servicemember Outreach and Referral (SOAR) – four years ago and she has driven its success ever since. SOAR is a multifaceted organization that offers a variety of outreach, celebrations, and veteran volunteer opportunities. These include outreach to TAP offices nationally, Virginia Values Veterans and HIRE Vets Now events locally, as well as commemorating military heritage by hosting military birthday celebrations and Veterans Day recognition events. Lauren also built a “Buddy Program” as a part of SOAR for veterans in the community to be paired with veteran-employees as they navigate their transition to civilian employment. Lauren leads by example and has gained the support of our entire senior management team as well as the respect of our veteran employee community. In 2020, our CEO Peter Smith presented Lauren with our first ever Veteran Advocate Award as recognition for her work promoting veteran hiring across the country. She has become a master of rallying participation in and enthusiasm for our veteran-centric activities to further the cause of hiring, supporting, and retaining veteran employees.

Here is what some of our veteran-employees and SOAR members say: “Lauren has a heart for serving those who served and the passion to turn our commitment to veterans into action with the energy to mobilize the entire company’s support. Bravo!”

Jeff J. LTC (Retired) United States Army

“Lauren Moretti is all action. Lauren has been the innovator, visionary and energetic leader behind our SOAR program from its inception in 2017 to the present. From the start, Lauren tirelessly sought out and connected veterans across the company, caring deeply for each one and taking pride highlighting their accomplishments, recognizing their service, and fostering camaraderie across all branches. She is the driving force that ensures AMERICAN SYSTEMS remains an industry leader in recruiting, hiring and retaining our nation’s treasured veterans.” Scott S. LTC, USMC, Retired.

“Lauren is a tireless worker, ensuring our Veterans Outreach gets to all current and potential employees of the company. She keeps SOAR’s motor running and the wheels turning with her energy, focus and commitment to hiring the best veterans for our company’s continuing mission to support and defend our country.” Charles W. LTC (Retired) United States Army

Lauren’s efforts are evidenced in the company averaging 50% (+/-) veteran hires for each of the last three years. One of her greatest accomplishments was earning for AMERICAN SYSTEMS the US Department of Labor Gold Award for Hire Vets, along with multiple other veteran hiring and support awards. Lauren has a deep understanding of veteran to civilian transition having grown up as a member of a military family (her father was a First Lieutenant in the USMC). No one is a more passionate, proactive, and successful driver of veteran hiring and retention. We salute Lauren and thank her for her tireless efforts to hire and support our veterans.
