What prompted you to return to school?
I returned to school to polish my skills in film-making and attain a degree to open doors to future jobs.
What has your experience been like as a student?
Regent is academically challenging with a Christian and uplifting atmosphere. Both faculty and students display the desire to be there, excel and help others excel. Once you get into the rhythm of college life, it gets easier.
What challenges did you have adjusting to campus culture after military life?
Adjusting to campus culture wasn’t much of a challenge for me after military life because I have an outgoing personality which fits well with campus life. Also, where the military assigns you to work with certain people, college gives you the opportunity to choose with whom you surround yourself.
Do you believe your military experience has made you a better student?
My military experience has made me a better student because it has sharpened my time management skills. Before entering the military, I rarely kept a schedule. Now, I schedule almost everything I do because it helps remind me of important events and prevents me from double-booking myself.
What advice do you have for veterans returning to school?
You have more experience in life than most students in college anywhere. You can do it! Also, remember to surround yourself with uplifting friends for they can ease the burden of stress and make your time at college more enjoyable.
