Suzie Schwartz has long been a champion for military spouses and families, working tirelessly to support them in achieving their goals by promoting selflessness, teamwork, and a special sense of military community. She supports and is active in numerous military philanthropies and assistance programs. She currently serves as the consultant to the Armed Forces Insurance Military Spouse of the Year program. She also serves as a Board Member for the National Military Family Association, The Fisher House Foundation and The Air Force Enlisted Village. She serves as an advisor on military matters and a contact with key decision makers when they want to understand issues facing our military families.
Suzie is the spouse of former Air Force Chief of Staff, General (retired) Norty Schwartz. She served for many years as the President for Military Spouse Programs for Military Spouse Magazine.
C. Eddy Mentzer

C. Eddy Mentzer brings more than three decades of personal and professional experience in supporting military families through a variety of roles across the DoD and Federal Government. Having joined the Office of the Secretary of Defense in 2010, Eddy currently serves as the Department’s lead on supporting military spouses across the spectrum of education and employment services. Previously, Eddy has led the Department’s Family Readiness System, Child Care and Youth Programs policy office, and policy efforts related to Military OneSource and the Military & Family Life Counselor program. Prior to rejoining the DoD in 2010, from 2004 to 2010 Mr. Mentzer served as a National Program Leader within the USDA’s National Institute of Food and Agriculture where he managed multiple global programs in support of military children, youth and families. From 1992 to 2004 he was a Department of the Air Force Civilian, overseeing child, youth, education, and family support programs at a variety of levels throughout Europe. In addition to growing-up in a military family, Eddy recently became a Veteran spouse upon the retirement of his wife after 30 years of service in the USAF.

Brian Alvarado is the Director of Military Spouse Programs for Hiring our Heroes, a program of the US Chamber of Commerce Foundation. This initiative provides a variety of programs and events for military spouses who are making a career move or reentering the workforce in military communities around the world. Brian wrapped up a three-year commitment serving at Fleet Anti-Submarine Warfare Training Center as a Naval Ombudsman aboard Naval Base Point Loma. He currently volunteers as a mentor to Veterans and Military Spouses through the Veterati program and presents employment content for Naval Services Family Line’s programming.
He is the 2018 Armed Forces Insurance Navy Spouse of the Year and has been recognized by the American Military Partner Association with their National Community Service Award as well as the recipient of the 2016 Vanguard Equality Award from Equality California.
