With the world losing its mind over COVID-19, many people are finding themselves holed up in their homes until this all passes over.
Bars, restaurants and even movie theaters around the world are being forced to shut down.
Luckily for us, it’s 2020 and we have thousands of movies just a click away. Here are some flicks to help you pass the time and see that things could be worse.
1.) Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior (1981)
Arguably the best film in the Mad Max franchise, this sequel to 1979’s Mad Max is an absolute classic. While COVID-19 has people stockpiling TP and hand sanitizer as opposed to gasoline and ammo, this flick may offer a not-so-unrealistic look at what could happen if people don’t get their shit together soon.

2.) A Quiet Place (2018)
Directed by John Krasinski (AKA Jim from The Office), this brilliant modern horror thriller follows a family being hunted by creatures that are hypersensitive to sound. Make one noise and you’re dead. This PG-13 flick might be a good way to keep the kids quiet while they’re stuck in the house. Or maybe that’s bad parenting advice—you be the judge.
Watch on Amazon Prime, Hulu or YouTube
3.) Dawn of the Dead (1978)
This second film in George A. Romero’s The Dead series (later remade in 2004), primarily takes place in a Pittsburgh-area shopping mall where zombies have taken over. While the coronavirus doesn’t turn people into zombies (that we know of), it sure has some people behaving that way.

4.) Contagion (2011)
Contagion is a movie that was literally based on real-life pandemics such as SARS in 2003 and the flu in 2009. In the film, a deadly virus is spreading across the globe while scientists race to find a vaccine and the general population goes nuts accordingly. Sound familiar?

5.) Outbreak (1995)
In Outbreak, a monkey infected with a deadly virus is smuggled into the US and chaos ensues. This movie raises the question of how far our leaders will go to control a pandemic.

6.) 28 Days Later (2002)
Similarly to Outbreak, the pandemic in 28 Days Later also starts out with infected monkeys. But unlike the virus in Outbreak, this one turns those infected into violent, ravenous zombies (think Dawn of the Dead on speed). Perhaps social distancing is especially important when it comes to our primate friends.
Watch on Amazon Prime, Hulu, or YouTube
7.) I Am Legend (2007)
Based on Richard Matheson’s influential novel of the same name, I Am Legend is set in a world where mankind has been wiped out by a virus and a US Army virologist (played by Will Smith) is one of the last remaining humans. Along with his dog, he works to develop a cure for the virus while avoiding the zombie/vampire hybrids that come out at night.
