In May of 2016, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos announced at the White House his company’s intention to hire 25,000 veterans within five years. In January of 2017, that promise was expanded to include 10,000 veteran-specific apprenticeships. Updated information below.

The “Amazon Veterans Apprenticeship Program” will include a sixteen-week training period, followed by 12 months of paid internship at the company. Though some of the practical details of the program have yet to be released, Amazon Vice President of Global Talent Acquisition Ardine Williams announced on the company’s blog that the first cohort of apprentices would “start small” with about 12 veterans who will be trained as “Cloud Support Associates” for Amazon Web Services.
The program has been registered as an official sanctioned apprenticeship, and so will follow the general rules and guidelines of the US Department of Labor.
As of right now, no official guidelines, application process, or registration portal has been announced. Interested veterans can look to Amazon’s blog stream or monitor the Department of Labor’s news releases to keep up to date on new developments.
